The Ministry of Inner-City and Zongo Development has supported the African Neighbour Foundation (ANF) as part of the Ministry’s efforts to bring reprieve to the less-privilege at the Abuabo area of the Kumasi metropolis in the Ashanti Region.
Presenting a cheque to the founder of ANF; Chief Director of the Ministry Gifty Mahama in the company of Dr. Osarfo Ohene, Special Advisor to the Ministry, Cletus Anarfo, director of Finance and Administration, Amina Sammo, director of Projects and Programmes  said when she first received the letter to assist the foundation; she asked of the structure of the organization.
‘I did so to know what the foundation does and I have been dully informed your operations fall within the mandate of the Ministry’ she explained.
She noted that working with the vulnerable and the disable in an inner –city area like Abuabo in the Ashanti Region encouraged the ministry to help put smiles on the faces of them.
She noted that the Ministry is helping to foot  half bill of the organization of the football match between the disables in the area.
She was quick to add that this is just the beginning but the Ministry is not promising much in terms of assisting the foundation.
She promised that when it comes to assisting such vulnerable groups, the ministry will consider the foundation first.
She told the managers of the foundation that it is the first that the ministry is assistance any institution since the president Nana Addo Danquah Akufo -Addo set up the ministry for the upliftment of Zongo communities across the country.
Receiving the cheque, the founder of ANF Hajia Mamata Musah Sheriff promised to use the money for its intended purpose.
She gave the assurance that her outfit will be working closely with the ministry to make the lives of the less privilege in the Zongos better.
She expressed her foundation’s gratitude to being the first organization to have been supported by the ministry since its establishment.
He appealed to the ministry not to make their assistance the first and not the last as the foundation needs such assistance to better serve the deprived communities.
