You’ve 48 hours to seek wise counsel or we lock up your churches in Asanteman – Asante youth to Bishop Dag

Five youth groups linked to the Manhyia Palace have threatened to lock up all branches of the Lighthouse Chapel International in the Asante Kingdom over a viral audio remark made by its founder against the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

In the viral audio founder and leader of the church, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills sought to question the achievements of the Asante monarch beyond his yearly celebrations since ascending the Golden Stool.

Although Bishop Dag has apologized to the King, the issue has sparked widespread outrage among various youth groups in the Asante Kingdom.

The youth group namely the Kumasi Youth Association (KuYA), Asante Youth Association (AYA), Asante Zongo Youth Union (AZOYU) and the Asante Students’ Union (ASU) described the comments as a grand scheme to defame the King.

They have thus issued a 48 hour ultimatum to the televangelist to seek wise counsel with the Asantehene and the Manhyia Palace resolve the issue.

“We are calling on Bishop Dag to seek wise counsel within 48 hours. Otherwise, none of his churches in the Asanteman enclave will be allowed to operate. Also we are warning all and sundry who hide behind religion and politics to push this evil agenda against Asanteman and his royal majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu. We will let them know that we will meet them up with brute force”, said Kwabena Frimpong, a General Secretary of KuYA.
