A group calling itself Youth With Disabilities has criticized the Mahama-led administration, calling for an immediate reversal of the mass dismissal of public servants.
The leader of the group, Gilbert Boateng Agyare, in an interview with Happy Kasiebo expressed disappointment, stating that the group had expected the president to exempt persons with disabilities from the dismissals.
He described the decision as insensitive, highlighting that the group consists of only about 300 members, all of whom meet the qualifications for their positions.
He explained that some members of the group had borrowed money to transport their belongings to their assigned workplaces, rented accommodation, leading to significant debts and inconveniences.
He announced plans to organize a massive demonstration if the decision is not overturned within two weeks.
He stated that since taking office, the current administration has not hired any individuals, making it unjustifiable for them to dismiss those who were already employed.
According to Agyare, the affected employees with disabilities were recruited through approved procedures under the previous administration. However, they have now been unfairly removed from their positions by the current government, despite having committed no offense.
