Arsenal legend, Ian Wright has slammed midfielder Thomas Partey for his mistake in the team’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Arsenal on Saturday, January 18, 2025, couldn’t hold on to a two-goal lead at the Emirates Stadium as Aston Villa clawed their way back into the game to snatch a point.
Partey’s mistake leading to Ollie Watkins’ goal in the 68th minute has been criticized heavily with Ian Wright calling it an unpardonable mistake despite the fact that he was played out of position.
“He [Thomas Partey] is not a right-back, and that is understandable, but as a professional player, he should have sensed the danger and not moved away.”
“He should have stuck with him and closed Watkins down, but he failed. At that level, making such mistakes is unforgivable, and he cost Arsenal a win,” Wright said on Premier League Productions.
