Member of Parliament for the Adentan Constituency and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications team, Honourable Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has opined that the efforts by the opposition National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) campaign team will prove futile if they have no policies to sell to the Ghanaian populace.
In an interview with Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, he stated that unlike the NPP, the NDC has no policy basis for their campaign and that gives the ruling NPP an advantage in this year’s campaign and election.
“My team has a basis for their campaign. They have good things to talk about. The NDC doesn’t really have a message for Ghanaians because we all know that things have not gone well in their field. When it comes to policies, we are aware that they don’t have any policies to present which will attract the populace.
The difference between the two campaign teams is that while the NPP campaign team has the policies they can sell to the people, the NDC has no policy to sell”.
Yaw Buaben Asamoa dismissed the argument that the NDC had brought infrastructural development to the country by suggesting that the NPP in the few years it assumed power has done more than the previous administration.
Speaking on the various hospitals built by the NDC administration, Yaw Buaben noted, “Hospitals without health workers is not a hospital. It is just a building”.
“Secondly unlike the NDC, the NPP has decentralized infrastructural development such that you will find our works in every constituency. The Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) has helped. We have a lot of policies that have succeeded. The NDC just left us with a collapsed economy”, he added.
In his concluding remarks, he made known that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had done more to give hope to the citizenry than ex-President John Dramani Mahama.
“If you don’t have a leader that gives you hope, all your efforts will be futile. Comparing Mahama to Nana Addo, it is obvious that Nana Addo is the one who has given us hope”, he said.
As at today, the major political parties in Ghana have selected members of their campaign team ahead of the 2020 general elections in December. While the ruling NPP has selected Peter Mac Manu to lead its 5-member campaign team, the opposition NDC has appointed Joshua Alabi to lead its 23-member campaign team.
