Black Avenue Muzik Boss, D-Black, has stated that the Hip-Hop genre does not pay in the Ghanaian music industry.

According to him, when he started 9 years ago, Hip-Hop was not commercially viable.

“You won’t play Hip-Hop on Happy FM 9 years ago. So you not getting paid for shows. You don’t get endorsement deals because you are not appealing to the masses and there is no money. Nobody was buying Hip-Hop CDs in 2010 or 2011. That is how I started doing Hiplife, even though I didn’t have firm enough grasp of the local languages -Twi or Ga-. So I had to do Hiplife to be able to survive”, D-Black said on Happy FM’s ‘Ayekoo After Drive’.

He however hinted that he will be releasing his 4th album on September 17, 2019. This album has 15 songs which include, 5 Hiplife songs, 5 Hip-Hop songs and 5 Afrobeat songs.
