Ghanaian soul singer and songwriter, Jane Awindor, known widely as Efya, has opined that in entertainment, one cannot judge anyone’s style or form of art because now there is market for everything.
Speaking with DJ Advicer on the Ayekoo After Drive which airs on Happy FM, she made this comment as a reply to whether she is happy with the type of music that the younger artistes are doing.
The vocally endowed Jane stated that everybody likes what they like, and it has been proven that there’s a market for anything so even if a musician chooses profanity as his or her style, there will always be people who will consume it.
“If someone is doing something that you think is profane and they keep doing it, and they keep gaining numbers, don’t expect them to stop. They’re making money”, the ‘Saara’ sensation said.
Efya affirmed that indeed on her part, she chose quality over numbers, however, she believes that it is just better if one can combine both.
“You can have a track that is not mind-blowing or inspiring but will blow. The people that like it just like it. You’ve made money”, the singer added.
