An ardent listener of Happy 98.9FM who was afforded his first radio presentation opportunity on the broadcasting giant has today lived the dream of many by joining the Happy Sports team in the studio to mark the World Radio Day.

The in studio beneficiary, Maxwell Amponsah who goes by the radio name ‘Maxwell Agege’ reveled in the fact that Happy98.9FM’s ‘Happy Sports’ the very first radio show he phoned in to had afforded him the opportunity to have direct involvement in its production process. “I am happy to have been invited to Happy FM today. My first radio phone in was on Happy FM and I have never regretted always listening to Happy.”

Speaking on the importance of radio, ‘Agege’ posited that radio had contributed to the building of relations amongst so many in the sporting community. “radio has helped the sporting community a lot. It was through radio that I connected with host, Brenya and it has also given me a great learning experience.”

Moreover, Maxwell ‘Agege’ passed comments on the kind of language used by callers on radio. He advised fellow sports fans and radio lovers to be mindful of their language whenever they phone in on their various shows on air. “Radio has caused confusion and destruction. The Tutsi and Hutsis genocide in Rwanda is a typical example of the destruction radio can bring. Please mind your language and do not resort to insults and the use of uncouth words on radio.”

Contributing to the subject of doping by footballers Maxwell went on to admonish footballers not to take drugs to enhance their performance. He also pleaded with management of football teams to desist from pumping players with drugs to force them out of injury.

Happy FM has over the years created a right balance of education, information and entertainment on its airwaves. The station’s programming has always been in line with the three main sub-themes of this year’s World Radio Day.

The 2020 World Radio Day focused on three thematic areas mainly; Advocating for pluralism in radio, including a mix of public, private and community broadcasters, encouraging representation in the newsroom, with teams comprised of diverse society groups and promoting a diversity of editorial content and programme types
reflecting the variety of the audiences.
