Former General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Worlanyo Agrah has clarified the statement he made on Kwesi Nyantakyi prior to his victory in the FIFA executive council election.
Worlanyo Agrah was reported to have stated that the President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi should step down from his position if he were to be elected onto the FIFA executive council board.
However, the veteran football administrator has declared that his statement on the issue was misconstrued and that he only offered advice to his longtime friend.
“What I said was that this is a man I know very well , and anytime I tune in the radio he’s always being insulted and therefore I said if I was him, I would vacate that position as the GFA capo as soon as I’m elected as a FIFA executive member and I still maintain my stance on that.”
If people do not appreciate what he’s done for Ghana football, I believe the best option for him is to call it a day, but let’s see whether people’s attitude towards him will change with this new role because I know he’s done so much for our football.”
“And from own experience as former director of sports at the national authority, I believe life is full of choices, and I’m saying he has to weigh the situation and see whether to continue.”
Kwesi Nyantakyi narrowly beat Madagascar’s Ahmad by just one vote as the man from Southern Africa secured 30 votes against his 31.
