Sixty-five year old woman has shared her ordeal on how she ended up spending thirty-two years in prison for a crime she claims she did not commit.
Interviewed on Happy FM’s religious show, Nsem Pii by host, Rev. Nyansa Boakwa, the ex-convict, said, ‘’I used to live with my husband and his brother’s wife, together with my in-laws’ children. My brother’s wife used to do all the cooking whenever I had to do go out so one day, I went out and when I returned, she had prepared rice with stew’’.
She narrated that after everyone had eaten, she left for the farm. Not long after she left, was she informed that all three children who ate the food had gotten ill, hence, had to be rushed to the hospital.
When they arrived at the hospital, the children were given first aid and a transferral to be sent to another hospital in Dunkwa for proper treatment. Unfortunately, one of the children died on the journey and was returned home.
The other two, according to her, got to the hospital alive and were put under treatment but also died the next day. She, despite having anything to do with the preparation of the food, was accused of poisoning the children, therefore was sent to prison.
The woman refused to put out her name, with reason that with the exception of her daughter who used to visit her in prison, none of her family members want anything to do with her, therefore, she does not want them to know she is now a free woman.
