Hiplife artiste Eugene Ashie popularly known as Wisa Greid has been found guilty for gross indecency and fined an amount of 8,400 with a default sentence of 24 months by an Accra Circuit Court.
Popularly known for hit song ‘Ekikimi’, Wisa on December 24, 2015 removed his manhood and stroked it against the buttocks of a female dancer during a life performance at the ‘December to Remember’ concert.
Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku who presided over the court proceedings established that there were inconsistencies in Wisa’s initial police statement and the account he gave during the trial.
According to the judgment by the court, Wisa admitted to showing his penis on stage in his initial statement to the police but stated during the trial that what looked like his penis was actually a dildo.
The court ruled that the Accra International Conference Center where the ‘December to Remember’ concert took place was a public place, therefore found Wisa Greid guilty of the offence and sentenced him accordingly.
