The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has placed the Medical Director of the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital on temporary administrative leave while a special committee investigates the allegations of patient abandonment, pending the outcome of the investigation.
This investigation comes on the heels of disturbing allegations that a patient was callously abandoned in a bush at Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region, prompting a thorough inquiry into the matter.
In a letter to the Minister of Health, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, stated that the Medical Director of the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital has been temporarily relieved of his duties to ensure a transparent and unhindered investigation into the alleged patient abandonment. This move is aimed at ensuring the integrity of the investigation and access to all relevant information, pending the outcome of the inquiry.
He guaranteed that once the investigation is complete, appropriate measures will be taken to hold accountable any individuals found to be involved in the unfortunate incident, ensuring that justice is served and those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
