There seem to be a new negative story each day about one celebrity or another and this new trend seems to be taking over the space of music on the airwaves.
Zylofon official Wiilie Roi and radio presenter Nana Romeo have both agreed that this is hurting the Ghanaian music industry.
On Happy FM’s ‘Showbiz Xtra’, with Doctar Cann, Nana Romeo said, “Ghana music is sloping. Unlike before, when Christmas was approaching, you could actually feel it but it’s not the same today.”
“Controversy seems to be gaining more grounds than music promotion. This time the controversies seem to be selling more than the music. Instead of promoting the songs we are rather promoting the negative things that are happening,” he added.
In the studio was Willie Roi who added his voice saying, “I agree with you.”
He blamed the media for this unfortunate development.
“Don’t you have any editorial discipline and discretion, don’t you have that as a company? You should have that. If you have an agenda to promote Ghana music, you will keep aside the many bad things and focus on the real thing,” he bemoaned.
“It’s the press that brings out the bad news, musicians only produce music and you guys decide to do whatever you want to do with it,” he added.
Some recent controversies have names like Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, among many others associated with them.
