Former Ghana International, Kwame Adzagba has explained why he had a rough career during his footballing days, cautioning foreign-based players on playing friendly games whilst in Ghana for vacations.
The former RTU and Asante Kotoko utility player revealed how he got injured whilst playing such friendly matches during his visit to Ghana.
“The Monday Stars games are good but if you come home and decide to play such games, you must play at where they protect players else you will get injured; I got my injury from such a game and I was out for 8 months.”-he stated
Kwame Adzagba also revealed why he considered retiring from football because of issues he had with his brother-in-law who happens to be the manager of RTU.
“There were so many issues when I was joining Asante Kotoko because of the so-called managers. When I was leaving RTU, Jones Abu Alhassan didn’t want me to go. He said he wants to loan me meanwhile my contract with RTU was finished.”
“It turned into a family problem because I was married to his kid sister so I had to play another year with them before I joined Kotoko. Because of Jones Abu Alhassan and his ways, I even decided to stop playing football. He destroyed my plans because I didn’t leave Kotoko wholeheartedly. He never thought of his kid sister that I married or our kids. He was just thinking about himself”
He, however, advised those playing actively to consider adding education to their careers since they can’t play forever.
“I see some ex-footballers who played here and their living condition is very bad. If you are not lucky enough to play outside, you won’t make enough to live on after retirement.”
“It is important to have some level of education as a footballer because if you are not lucky enough to travel outside and make it, you can’t make enough money.”-he revealed.
