Convening founder and Head of Mission of the African Union(AU) – Diaspora African Forum, Ambassador Erieka Bennet has commended the efforts of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to make Ghana a home to everyone from the diaspora.
She voiced her satisfaction and admiration of the President at the launch of the book, “When We Returned from Chains to Crowns” written by Akwasi Agyeman, on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the W.E.B Du Bois Centre. She acknowledged a number of initiatives undertaken by the Ghana Tourism Authority in alignment with the president’s mission. “This president has given citizenship to many of my brothers and sisters around the world; this president was the one who first signed our protocols to make us a diplomatic mission as the foreign minister at the time. When I stand here, I stand here and I salute you Mr. President,” she said
Amb. Erieka Bennet appreciating efforts of Akwasi Agyeman said, “When I think of the author of this book, he has done so much for the diaspora, he has done so much for the Diaspora African Forum. I think about all the awards he has won all around the world like the Bridgebuilders Award that he received – the same award my president received.” she said.
Citing her experience as one who has lived in Ghana for over 2 decades, she indicated that the able leadership of the President and navigation of CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Akwasi Agyeman has transformed the narrative of Africa, steering it towards a more sustainable and welcoming place to people all around the world. “I have lived in this country for 22 years and it’s people like Akwesi
Agyeman its people like the President of this country who have said welcome home.”
The diplomat extended profound gratitude on behalf of all individuals in the diaspora to the President and Akwesi Agyeman for the never-ending efforts to keep Ghana in its position as the gateway to Africa. “Today I am overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for the 200 million diasporians all over the world who can attest to the fact that Ghana is the epitome of coming home.”
