Finance Minister designate Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has refuted claims that he stated the new government would seek additional funding from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), despite Ghana’s current programme with the institution.

Dr. Forson explained to the appointments committee of Parliament, during his vetting that his comments had been misrepresented.

He noted that his comments highlighted the need for flexibility in navigating the nation’s economic challenges, adding that, while the option of seeking additional IMF support remains on the table, such a decision would only be made if the circumstances necessitate it.

“I didn’t say I was going to request additional finance from the IMF, What I said was that we could request additional finance if the need arises” he disclosed.

He assured that all viable measures would be considered to maintain the country’s economic stability.
