Minority Leader Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has commended the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for his exceptional service to Ghana.
Speaking on Friday, January 24, during the vetting of the Interior Minister-designate, Mohammed Muntaka, Mr. Afenyo-Markin praised Dr. Dampare’s leadership, highlighting his significant contributions to law enforcement and national security as deserving of recognition and celebration.
“The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, many may have their views about him, but I am one person who respects him and admires him. If we had his type manning our police service and other institutions, Ghana would be a better place” he said.
He acknowledged that while there may be differing opinions about Dr. Dampare’s leadership style, his accomplishments far outweigh any criticisms.
The Minority Leader also praised Dr. Dampare for his youthful energy and proactive approach to policing.
He expressed confidence that retaining Dr. Dampare in his role would contribute significantly to strengthening the police service and promoting national stability.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Afenyo-Markin reiterated the importance of celebrating individuals who dedicate themselves to national service.
He urged Ghanaians and policymakers to look beyond personal differences and recognise the impact of Dr. Dampare’s leadership.
