The NDC Communications team in the Western Region has embarked on a campaign outreach to educate Takoradi residents on the Cholera outbreak to curb the menace.
The communications team visited Sekondi Market, Takoradi Jubilee Park, Effia night market, and Abenbobom Market as part of their outreach.
During the outreach, the Western Regional communications Director of the NDC, Richard Kirk Mensa urged market women to adhere to the safety precautions outlined by authorities and health professionals and also take their vaccines to curtail the spread.
He also appealed to the market women to adopt proper hygiene practices by making sure their surroundings are clean, avoid consumption of cold foods, wash their hands frequently with soap under running water and reduce the rate at which they buy food outside.
“The Cholera outbreak is escalating rapidly and it’s crucial we all play our part in controlling it’s spread. I strongly encourage you to get vaccinated as I have taken mine”.
He also took the opportunity to express the NDC’s profound gratitude to traders in Sekondi-Takoradi for voting massively for the party.
Their outreach comes in the wake of a Cholera outbreak in the Western Region especially in Takoradi, Effia and some other parts of the region.
Currently, the death toll has risen to 15 with over 1,500 cases.
As part of measures to curb the outbreak, health authorities in the region have rolled out a vaccination exercise to protect the people.
