Ellen Daaku, is Member of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communication team has said former president John Agyekum Kufuor offended nobody by endorsing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the December 7 elections.
According to her, John Agyekum Kufuor is a founding father of the NPP and became the President of Ghana on the ticket of the party and committed no offence by endorsing Vice president Dr. Bawumia.
“I find it quite funny that people are up in arms against Kufuor endorsing Bawumia. The last time I checked, former President Kufuor was one of the founding members of the NPP.”
“President Kufuor hasn’t told anyone he has left the NPP. He is still an NPP member, and I am sure he is going to be an NPP member for the rest of his life,” she stated.
Ellen Daaku also questioned critics whether they expected the former President to endorse NDC’s John Dramani Mahama or the flag bearer of the CPP, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa.
“So, if an NPP member, a former President, decides to endorse the candidature of his party member, why are we up in arms about it?”
“Were we expecting Kufuor to endorse John Mahama or Nana Akosua Frimpomaa from the CPP? Or any of the other candidates? That would be totally out of character,” she added.
