Captain and talisman of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has disclosed to Happy FM why he was substituted in Ghana’s first two games at the on-going Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
Gyan, who netted his 49th goal for the Black Stars against Mali last Saturday, said the substitutions were to protect him since he hasn’t been match-fit and consistent for the last 8 months and hence it was a precautionary measure for his own good.
“For the past 8 months, I have not been consistent on the field so both changes were necessary. Sometimes, my health is important so I just get substituted so I don’t get hurt. It is true that when I’m on the field, my colleagues are confident that i can produce some brilliance but it’s better if I’m fit for the whole duration of the tournament” Gyan told Happy FM on Anopa Bosuo Sports.
