He suggested that clubs who travel for their matches can also use the facility to travel to other regions for their sporting activities.
The former Al Khartoum Sporting club gaffer called on every Ghanaian to support the train service because it will ease congestion .
He further called on Ghanaians to once in a while, leave their cars home and patronise the train service.
Operations of the Accra – Tema railway line have commenced.
Passengers would be treated to a free ride from today [Tuesday] 29, 2019 for two weeks.
The train embarked on its first run at an official relaunch ceremony on Tuesday.
Deputy Managing Director of the Ghana Railway Company Limited, Dr. Michael Adjei Anyatei, speaking at the ceremony said: “The resumption of the train to commute people from Accra to Tema is a bold step in decongesting the city by providing safer and cheaper means for people who come in and out of the city. After the free ride, patrons would be charged GH¢5.00 flat rate per passenger.
The 6 carriage train which has the capacity to carry 600 passengers will for the next 2 weeks offer free rides to passengers.
The train normally leaves Tema at 6:30 am through Asaprochona in Sakumono, then to Baatsona, Shangrila, Dzowulu, Achimota, Odo at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, then to Kantamanto in Accra.
