We won’t tolerate unauthorized structures at Obetsebi Lamptey interchange– Titus Glover

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has firmly reminded residents and business operators in Accra to keep off the newly inaugurated Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange. These include the mounting of kiosks, wooden shops, and mechanic workshops.

Speaking on Friday, November 29, at the inauguration of Phase II of the interchange, the minister stressed that maintaining the infrastructure’s aesthetics and functionality is a key priority for city authorities.

His comments echo a similar stance he took regarding developments around the Flower Pot Interchange, highlighting concerns over how informal businesses often encroach on new infrastructure shortly after its completion.

He cited an incident where, despite clear warnings issued during the inauguration of the Flower Pot Interchange, a coconut seller and a banana seller defied the directive by setting up their tables under the flyover.

Titus Glover also appealed to residents to support the government’s efforts to improve the city’s infrastructure and preserve its beauty.

“Last week Tuesday, during the commissioning of the Flower Pot Interchange, I did say and let me repeat that we don’t want any kiosks, we don’t want any mechanics around the shoulders of this interchange”.

“Immediately after I gave the warning last week, a coconut seller and a banana seller tested my resolve. Let us not put anything here. Let us allow the ambience and the beauty of the place to continue” he said.
