We will write back to EC - Adib Saani

The Executive Director of Jatikay Centre, Adib Saani has announced plans to write back to the Electoral Commission to demand for reasons why his center together with other CSOs were denied accreditation to monitor the December 7th elections.

“It is quite shocking that despite all the documentation presented to the EC, they still didn’t see the need to approve our accreditation”.

Speaking with Bismark Brown on the Epa Ho Daben show, Adib Saani reaffirmed their stance of writing back to the Electoral Commission to know why they were refused accreditation.

“In the spirit of decency it is only appropriate to know what happened. We would wish to know why we were not qualified. We will write again”.

According to him, the EC’s refusal to grant them accreditation raises a lot of questions among the citizenry.

“Ofcourse, the fact that the EC has denied civil society accreditation, it calls for disaster and will raise suspicions about the true intentions of the Electoral Commission”.

He emphasized that, this act by the Electoral Commission will undermine the electoral process.

“It presents a dangerous situation”.

He added that, the observation by civil society would help the Electoral Commission run a transparent election.

“we are thinking that the observation will help the EC, in the space of transparency and credibility”.

He mentioned that the CSOs have other plans to ensure fairness, credible and transparent elections.
