The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, says the ministry of education will be paying more attention to gifted and talented kids or students in the country. According to him, it is time for some of these innovations in the Ghana education system to favor such students.

Addressing the press on the state of education in Ghana, he mentioned that gifted and talented students are the most miserable when they can’t express themselves in an environment.
“Research has shown that between 6-10% of the population we have are gifted or talented and they are the ones who are so smart and sharp and get 100% in exams and when you teach them once they understand. If we do not introduce gifted and talented education in Ghana these children become miserable because they do not conform to the norm”.

He explained that this is important for them because they have realized that such children don’t easily take notes from teachers because their minds work differently and a number of times they are likely to drop out of school because they cannot keep up with what the teacher teaches.
He believes that individuals with gifts should be provided with an environment where they’ll blossom.
“South Korea and America have done it for years and the results are there for all to see. When you see those talented ones like the ones who can dance and make things no one has taught them to do they are the ones who change the nature and course of the country” he noted.
