Dominic Ayine, Attorney General and Energy Minister Designate has revealed plans to strengthen anti-corruption efforts by implementing the Whistleblowers Act across the country.
The initiative involves establishing a whistleblower agency in every district, ensuring a decentralized approach to combating corruption.
As part of the strategy, he said hotlines will be created in each district to provide citizens with an accessible platform to report acts of corruption. The process he noted will be widely publicized to ensure the public is well-informed about how to use the reporting channels effectively.
During his vetting he said the proposed system will allow chiefs and other community leaders to play a role in receiving and escalating corruption reports. According to him, Investigations will be conducted in collaboration with law enforcement agencies and other investigative bodies to ensure thorough scrutiny and evidence collection.
The plan also emphasizes the incentive offered under the Whistleblowers Act, where individuals who report corruption cases leading to financial recovery are entitled to 10% of the recovered funds.
This initiative he said aims to extend anti-corruption measures beyond the national level, making them effective at the local level to ensure broader public participation in the fight against corruption.
