King Faisal’s manager, Coach Nurudeen Ahmed, has disclosed that his team was initially nervous before their encounter with Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyeman Badu Stadium in Dormaa Ahenkro, during week two of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Coach Nurudeen guided King Faisal in a 3-1 shocking victory against a revered Aduana side when playing on home soil. King Faisal amassed three points after their second game of the season, breaking Aduana’s record of 17 home wins in the process.
During an interview with Odiasempa Kwame Oware, host of Happy Sports on Happy98.9 FM, he mentioned, “We all know the experience playing in Dormaa Ahenkro against Aduana Stars, who were without a defeat at home in the league throughout last season. With that, we were all anxious before the game as we believed it will surely be a tough match. I just had to motivate my players before they went out on the pitch and at the end, we got the three points we direly needed.”
Coach Nurudeen Ahmed also stated his team struggled at the start of the game but held their chin up until they got the first goal and eventually came out victoriously. He spoke highly of Aduana’s Emmanuel Gyamfi, as he said the midfielder was always a threat whenever he had the ball.
He insisted his side is always the underdog entering into a game, in an attempt to caution the club’s fans not to have high hopes and end up disappointed at the end. “It’s just the start of the season and we want to be consistent, so we will focus on a game after another,” he added.
King Faisal’s next opponent in the league will be at home against AshantiGold at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
