Newly promoted Ghana Premier League side, Bofoakwa Tano, who defeated Eleven Wonders 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 stalemate last Tuesday in the playoff of zone I of the national first division championship were the better of the two teams, according to their head coach Fuseini Abubakari.
Bofoakwa Tano commenced on a higher note and got themselves an early lead through a penalty in the 7th minute after Enoch Abuu was fouled by the visitors’ goalie. Their lead was however canceled just two minutes from the break thanks to a header from Eleven Wonders’ Zakaria Osman.
Speaking in an interview on Happy FM after his team’s victory, coach Fuseini thanked the supporters and his players for a hard-fought victory.
“The journey hasn’t been easy. From the blast of the whistle, we were the better side of the two teams. We controlled the game and our tactics went according to plan. We managed to get the early goal of the game and also had two goals disallowed by the referee. We were not pleased with some of the decisions against us by the officials”, he told Ohene Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports.
Bofoakwa Tano is back in the Ghana Premier League after sixteen years.
