Keeping Ghanaian students in China: Prez Nana Addo has been vindicated -Amb. Boateng

H. E Ambassador Edward Boateng, Ghana’s ambassador to China has employed the allegory of a ‘mother hen protecting it chicks to give Ghanaians a vivid picture of how diligently the team at Ghana’s mission in China worked to protect Ghanaian students in China during the coronavirus (covid-19) outbreak.

Recounting how supportive the government of Ghana and his team of experts at the embassy were during a virtual panel discussion co-organised by Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC) and Kencity media he said, ‘’The decision of keeping Ghanaian students in China was made by President Nana Akufo Addo, and as his soldiers we carried out the orders of the president to the later, ensuring everyone was safe. We worked in China like a ‘mother hen’ protecting its chicks. We worked in a diligent manner to protect our own.’’

He also thanked the entire team who worked with him during the outbreak. ‘’It was a collective effort by the whole team here in China, and I am grateful to all of them for their enormous support’’ he said.

The dialogue which aired on Happy FM, e.TV Ghana, Net2 Television, Oman FM, Ash FM and was streamed live on social media also featured the following experts who worked with the ambassador during the peak of COVID-19 in China; Dr Ama Edwin, a Physician Clinical Psychologist and Bioethicist at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, Mr Abu Osuman, Minister Counsellor, Embassy of Ghana Beijing China, Dr Percy Akuetteh, Hepatobiliary Surgery PhD student and Chairman of Ghanaian Community Association Wenzhou chapter, Mr Sampson Opoku, PhD Candidate and NUGS Chapter President, Wuhan-China and Miss Gloria Akpabla, Women’s Commissioner, NUGS China.

The virtual dialogue was moderated by Samuel Eshun host of ‘Happy Morning Show’ on Happy FM (HMS) and Abedi Anim host of The Dialogue on Net 2 TV.

The theme for the panel discussion was COVID-19, Dealing with the Challenges: A Dialogue with Ghanaians in China.
