Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has indicated that Ghana, presently under the New Patriotic Party administration has assumed a better economic status as compared to the previously led administration by John Dramani Mahama.

Dr. Bawumia in an engagement the press held on Sunday, August 25 at Movenpick Hotel in Accra, rooted these remarks to the recurring criticisms of the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), who have touted Ghana’s economy as a mismanaged economy under the supervision of the NPP flagbearer. “

Dr. Bawumia on the contrary countered all speculations leveled against him with many projects introduced by the NPP to enhance Ghana’s economy. He added that despite the emergence of a global pandemic which brought all economic activities worldwide to a standstill, the NPP made remarkable progress in developing Ghana’s economy. “If according to him, we have mismanaged the economy, in the midst of a global crisis, our so called mismanaged economy has out performed the previous government in GDP growth, per capita income, gross international reserves, schools, Free SHS and others; they had no global crisis. ” the Vice President said.

Dr. Bawumia noted that Ghana’s economic status under the rule of the NDC cannot be compared to Ghana’s present economy and charged all members of the opposition and leader, John Dramani Mahama to data projected on the progress of Ghana’s economy in the past 7 years. “Our economy termed as mismanaged economy is far better than the economy he led us a president; I hope this matter can be settled; as members of the press you know the data and follow the data and can attest to the fact the NPP has done better than the NDC.”
