Due to the ban of public gatherings amid the novel Coronavirus outbreak in Ghana, the 2020 edition of the 3Music Awards came off at the Fantasy Dome, Trade Fair without the usual live audience.
The event which was held on the 2nd of May, 2020 saw winners of the award give their acceptance speeches via the video conferencing app, Zoom.
However, this edition of the awards scheme attracted a lot of criticisms from industry players and fans. These complains range from the technical hitches to the composition of the board.
Speaking on the criticisms meted out to the award scheme, Chief Executive Officer of the award scheme, Sadiq Abdulai Abu disclosed in an interview with Doctar Cann on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra show that the scheme is ready to take any constructive criticism as it is essential for the growth and development of the scheme.
“We have accepted all the constructive criticisms. Even before the criticisms, we had internally identified some problems we were going to work on”, he said.

He, however, added that some criticisms had no bearing on the development of the scheme. He noted that one of such commentaries from an industry player on how the set up was “overly done” was an “outrageous” comment.
