We engaged the camps of Shatta, Stone before making lift on ban public – Charterhouse PRO

The Head of Public Events and PRO at Charterhouse, Robert Klah, has insisted that organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA) engaged with artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy before making public the lift of the ban.

This comes after dancehall musician Stonebwoy, in a social media post, implied that VGMA did not engage with them before making the lift on ban public.

Stonebwoy’s tweet read: “Dear VGMA Board & Scheme organisers,I hear the purpose of the VGMA is to celebrate and project Ghanaian musicians and music. If that is so, it takes nothing from you to meet with us the artistes/ our reps b4 reaching decisions that affect us and communicating them to the public.”

However, Robert Klah, speaking to Happy FM’s Doctar Cann, revealed: “We engaged their camps. The reality is that before the press release came out we contacted their camps. As I speak to you we are still doing the engagements”.

When questioned on who specifically the VGMA engaged with, Robert insisted that it was just the artistes’ “camp”.

Ghanaian dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were banned indefinitely from participating in all aspects of the Vodafone Music Awards (VGMAs).

This decision was taken following a scuffle between the two feuding musicians at the 20th anniversary of the VGMAs.

Organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), in an official release some days ago, however, announced that it had lifted the ban on dancehall heavyweights Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale.

In its release, the organizers expressed hope that the scuffle that occurred in 2019 was not going to be repeated.
