Chairman of the National Elections Security Taskforce, Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo- Dampare has reiterated the security Taskforce’s commitment to ensuring a better security system in the country ahead of the December 7 elections.
‘’We therefore want to tell you to relax ,make all your projections into the future, because this democracy of ours has come to stay and we will protect it with every fibre of our being for the sake of the generations yet to come’’
According to him, the security taskforce is ready for the elections. He added that there are plans in place “even for the next 30 years after this elections”.
‘’The blueprint we have developed for the first time in the history of this country to mainstream elections security into the totality of security arrangement and make elections a process and not an event, we have 30 years from now in mind.’’
Speaking during an engagement with members of the Ghana Union of Traders Association, he encouraged them to relax and continue with their businesses as there would be maximum security in the country ahead of the December polls.
‘So go out there and make the big investment that will make a difference in the lives of your employees, in the lives of your communities and in the lives of this country and leave the election security in our hands and just play your part’’.
He mentioned that, the elections security taskforce has introduced a toll free number to get access to information from others regarding the elections.
‘’In order to work with everybody, with the intelligence structure we put in place, we’ve gone a step further to establishing a toll free number to help us get intelligence across the country beyond the intelligence that we are gathering from the people across the country, the number you can access us on 0800311311. We are ready for this elections.”
