Former President and Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama in a live interaction with his social media interaction is saying that he and his policy team are working to make Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) free.
“One of the issues I am planning with our policy team is to make TVET education free…not just from the tertiary level,” Mahama said.
The former President also said the NDC upon assumption of power will work to abolish the double-track system.
In August 2019, Mahama speaking at the launch of the 27th Annual Residential Delegates Congress of the Ghana Union of Technical Students (GNUTS) in Kumasi, Mahama said he will move to rebrand TVET and make it more attractive to students.
“It is my intention, in the future government that I will head, to rebrand TVET into an alternative of the first choice rather than the wretched path that students are compelled to take when all other doors are closed to them”, Mr. Mahama noted.
