The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has denied claims of plans to move its headquarters from Ghana to Nigeria.
Speculation arose following media reports suggesting that financial challenges, allegedly due to the Ghanaian government’s debt to WAEC, had disrupted its operations and sparked discussions of a possible relocation.
In response, WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, clarified that no such decision has been made, dismissing the reports as false.
“There hasn’t been any discussion in this direction. So the law that established WAEC indicates that the headquarters of WAEC will be situated here in Accra. Ever since there has not been any change to that. So, I guess that we can confirm that we have not had any such discussions and there are no plans as such” he said.
