A Ranking Member on the Parliamentary Education Committee, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe has revealed that the postponement of the 2024 BECE script markings from August to September is due to lack of funds.
According to him, government is owing WAEC for the recent BECE examination and that is why marking of papers has delayed.
Speaking at a press briefing on August 22, 2024, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe stated that the government is owing the examination body GHC 300 million for work done from 2022 to date.
The Minority is demanding payment of all monies owed to WAEC in order for them to prepare and mark the papers in time.
“If the marking of the of the examination scripts delays, it will have ripple effect on the academic calendar”.
