Visa denial puts Medeama SC’s match against DC United in jeopardy

Medeama SC’s plans for their upcoming match against DC United have been thrown into disarray as the American Embassy rejected visa applications for several of their members. Originally scheduled to depart for the United States on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, in preparation for their Capital City Africa Cup clash at Audi Field in Washington DC, the Ghanaian champions are now scrambling to find alternative solutions to address the visa setbacks and ensure they can still participate in the friendly match.

Out of the 19 players and officials who submitted visa requests, only 13 have managed to secure the necessary approvals. Notably, CEO Joseph Tetteh Zutah, Physio Abdul Osman, Board Member Maxwell Boakye, Kojo Allah, James Essirifi, and Vice President Rose Linnet Osei are among those who have been denied entry into the United States.

These unexpected visa rejections have left Medeama FC facing a precarious situation as they prepare to take on DC United. The absence of key team officials and board members could potentially have a significant impact on the team’s readiness and overall organization for the match.
