VIDEO: Tragedy strikes as Ampem Darkoa Ladies Football Club house engulfed in flames

The club house of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Ghana’s Women’s Premier League champions, was engulfed in flames, leaving the players and coaching staff in shock. The incident occurred earlier today, and while there were no reported injuries, the toll on the team’s possessions and morale is substantial.

Head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa spoke exclusively to Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports with Jefferies Sintim-Koree, revealing the extent of the damage and the challenges the team now faces. “There were no injuries sustained by the players or any member of the team, but the passports, money, and other belongings of some of the players have been gutted by the fire. We have lost almost everything, including some of the cars. Luckily, some were pulled out. The girls are really stranded today, and today is one of the saddest days in the team’s history,” he expressed with a heavy heart.

The club, known for its resilience on the field, now faces a different kind of battle as they come to terms with the loss of valuable possessions and the destruction of their cherished clubhouse.

Coach Adarkwa remained composed during the interview, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. “As for what caused the fire outbreak, I cannot tell, and it is yet to be disclosed. Investigations are underway to determine the root cause of the fire,” he explained, adding a layer of mystery to the unfortunate incident.

The club’s management are working together to provide immediate assistance to the affected players and staff. Efforts are being made to help them recover essential documents, arrange temporary accommodations, and address their immediate needs.
