Ex- Ghana international striker Tony Yeboah is still a fans’ favourite in the United Kingdom despite having left the playing turf for a while now as his sumptuous goal Wimbledon in 1995 has been voted as the second best goal in Premier League history.
The goals comes second to Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp’s gracious strike against Newcastle in 2002 which received nearly a third of the votes cast.
Tony Yeboah’s stunner was rated ahead of Wayne Rooney’s bicycle kick against Manchester City in February 2011 which came third, while Thierry Henry’s solo effort against Tottenham in 2002 and Arsenal’s incredible team goal against Norwich in 2013 — finished by Jack Wilshere —completed the top five.
The poll, which attracted more than half-a-million votes, was conducted by the BBC in search of the greatest ever Premier League goal.

There have been 25,799 goals scored in the Premier League between 1992 and the present day. And to mark the 25th anniversary of the league’s inception, the best were selected from five separate eras based on Match of the Day’s goal of the season competitions.

In the final run-off Bergkamp’s St James’ Park goal garnered 31 per cent of the votes, ahead of Tony Yeboah’s screamer against Wimbledon in September 1995 (29 per cent).
