Video: Obrafour was the first to put my name on a Cassette – D-Black

Black Avenue Music boss, Desmond Blackmore, known in showbiz as D-Black, has revealed that Kwabena Okyere Darko, aka Obrafour, was the first person to put him on a song.

D-Black paid a glowing tribute to Obrafour on Happy FM’s ‘Ayeeko After Drive’, calling him a legend.

‘’The first person to put me in a studio sixteen years ago was Obrafour. He had already done ‘Pae Mu Ka’ and he started something called Execution Dairy. It was to showcase all the recording artistes in Hush Hush studios. Obrafour gave us a song to be on, he put all the English artistes on a song called ‘Accra Lovers’ and it was produced by Hammer,’’ he narrated.

He mentioned Mensah, Side lover as the two other English artistes to feature on the ‘Accra Lovers’ song.

‘’ Myself, Side Lover and Mensah were on the ‘Accra Lover’ song. That was the first time I saw my name on a cassette. To me Obrafour is a Legend’’ he beamed.

He also indicated that he met colleague artistes like Sarkodie, Edem, Okra, Tinny, Kwaw Kesse at the ‘Hush Hush’ studios.

Meanwhile, Obrafour’s maiden ten track album celebrated twenty years on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. The album had, rap enthusiast’s favorites like, ‘Pae Mu Ka’, ‘Agoro No Aso’, ‘Kwame Nkrumah’ and ‘Yaanom’ among others.

However, D-Black’s Black Avenue Muzik record label, has produced music by Wisa Greid, Freda Rhymz, Sefa, Dahlin Gage, Nina Ricchie, and Osayo. And has some great albums to his credit He also has some hit singles like ‘Vera’, ‘Personal Person’ and 2012 and 2014 respectively.
