Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign headquarters was filled with fervent fans shouting, “we have won to save Ghana,” which seems to be a positive development for Bawumia’s chances of becoming the next flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Provisional results have began to surface as the votes were counted and the counting process got underway, providing a first indication of how the primary would turn out.

The early results suggest that Dr. Bawumia is leading the race with a commanding 62.01%, while Ken Agyapong closely follows with 36.79%. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto is in the third position with 0.78%, and Ing. Francis Addai Nimoh with 0.43% of the votes.

The jubilant supporters at Bawumia’s campaign office expressed their confidence in his candidacy, and the enthusiastic chants for “saving Ghana” reflect the optimism surrounding his campaign.

While the NPP’s flagbearer election is far from over, these early results provide a glimpse into the preferences of the party members. The final outcome will have significant implications for the NPP’s strategy and the candidate they present for the 2023 General Elections.
