Leicester City tore through Southampton 5-0, propelled by a stunning hat-trick from Ghanaian loanee Fatawu Issahaku. The victory puts them within touching distance of a Premier League return.
Fatawu, a 20-year-old winger on loan from Sporting Lisbon, took center stage with his clinical finishing. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall initiated the rout with a pinpoint pass to Fatawu, who slotted the ball home in the 25th minute, despite Southampton’s protests.
The second half mirrored the first, with Leicester firmly in control. A powerful header from Wilfried Ndidi doubled the lead just past the hour mark. Fatawu then unleashed a thunderbolt from outside the box to make it 3-0.
Fatawu wasn’t done yet. He turned provider, feeding Jamie Vardy with a perfect low cross for the veteran striker to tap in. Vardy then returned the favor, setting up Fatawu for his hat-trick goal, capping off a lightning-fast counter-attack.
Fatawu’s performance cemented his status as a rising star, boasting an impressive record of six goals and 12 assists in the Championship this season.
