The #FixTheCountry demonstration today came to a temporary standstill after a brief misunderstanding between the Police and Protestors.
The two parties had an argument over the mapped out route for the demonstration, with demonstrators arguing the Police was leading them on a wrong route.
The standoff happened at the Farisco traffic light area.
Originally, protesters were expected to march from the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue towards Farisco Traffic Lights through TUC Traffic Intersection to EOCO and end at the Black Star Square.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, prior to the demonstration had assured the protest group of police protection.
He personally assured them of maximum police protection “from the start to the end”. The IGP and other Police Chiefs had also gone through the agreed routes with the group.
