Foreign Affairs Minister and MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has stated that the Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh was the mastermind behind the chaos that erupted during the vetting process.
According to him, Annoh-Dompreh took full control of the situation, giving direct instructions and ensuring that the disruption played out as planned.
Recounting the event before the Ad Hoc Committee investigating the disturbances, Mr. Ablakwa described how the Minority Chief Whip led the charge, instructing MPs on their next moves after the Minority Leader, Afenyo-Markin had given the signal and threatened the clerk not to swear in Mintah Akandoh. He recalled hearing commands being issued, making it clear that the disruptions were intentional and aimed at preventing the vetting from proceeding.
He disclosed that the chairman’s microphone was forcibly removed during the commotion. While he could not immediately recall who took it, he maintained that the attack on the chairman’s table was deliberate.
“The table was pushed aside, and the chairman himself was shoved, intensifying the disorder.”
He also named some minority MPs, including Jerry, a newly elected MP, and Hassan Tampuli, as being actively involved in the turmoil. One of them, he alleged, even attempted to stop the clerk to prevent the administering of oath to Mintah Akandoh.
Mr. Ablakwa insisted that the disruptions were not spontaneous but rather a well-organized effort to derail the vetting process. He noted that the minority MPs repeatedly declared that proceedings would not continue that night, reinforcing the view that their actions were premeditated.
