The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has assured the National Elections Security Taskforce of intensifying its efforts to ensure peace before, during and after the December 7 elections in all universities across the country.
According to UTAG, it will increase its efforts in the promotion of peace beyond the classroom.
‘’It is time for us to increase our efforts not just in the classroom but also outside. For us we teach ethics, we teach civic responsibilities and civic rules, we teach right and institutionality, these are the fundamentals of what we refer to as democracy’’.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting between leadership of the University Teachers Association of Ghana and the National Elections Security Taskforce, the National General Secretary of UTAG Dr. Eliasu Mumuni lauded the security taskforce for the efforts put in place to ensure peace at all times.
He added that, ‘’It is a collective effort. Beyond what we have been doing, we assure you that from today up until when the results are declared we will intensify our efforts, advocacy and campaign to make sure that our efforts are added to this course’’.
