UK officials have refuted rumours circulating on social media about the purported seizure of £15 million from a prominent member of Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the UK.
The UK Financial Intelligence Unit and the Border Agency have both denied any knowledge of such claims, following inquiries to verify the authenticity of the reports.
Contrary to the speculation spreading online, representatives from both agencies confirmed that there is no record of any £15 million being impounded from any Ghanaian individual.
The rumours sparked widespread interest after suggestions surfaced that a significant sum of money was seized from a member of the ruling party during an apprehension in the UK.
However, with both the UK Financial Intelligence Unit and the Border Agency refuting the claims, it appears that there is no factual basis to support the assertions made on social media platforms.
There is currently no proof to support the claim that £15 million was taken from a Ghanaian.
