The University of Ghana chapter of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) is the latest branch to reject last Monday’s decision by the National Executive Committee (NEC) to call off the strike.
UG-UTAG follows its counterpart at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), whose members rejected NEC’s decision on Tuesday.
UTAG emergency meeting on Monday, February 21, 2022 to evaluate their ongoing strike action, NEC of the UTAG, agreed to suspend its strike action.
This important outcome was revealed by Prof. Ransford Gyampo, the General Secretary of UTAG’s University of Ghana Chapter, in a Facebook post.
He did point out that they have decided to suspend their industrial action and allow negotiations to commence and be concluded
in two weeks.
However, he stated that under UTAG’s constitution, members of the Association have five days to vote on whether to reject or accept the NEC’s decision.
