Students of the University of Ghana, Legon, are asking for a part refund of the academic and residential fees they paid for the 2019/2020 academic year.

According to them, they are of the conviction that the agreement for academic tuition and residency the University had with them prior to admission and registration among other things are hinged on the face-to-face lecture delivery by lecturers, social contact and academic interactions among students.

A petition signed by lead petitioners, Kojo Danquah and Sampson Tagbor added that registration at the tie also included direct access to facilities like the Science Labs, Computer Labs, WiFi System, Sporting fields, the well equipped Library System including that of departmental and Junior Common Rooms (JCRs) libraries of which students are no longer guaranteed access to under the current E-Learning arrangements for the rest of the semester.

‘”By providing your details below, you are assisting the petitioners to make a strong case to the University Management and relevant stakeholders to consider refunding part of fees paid for the 2019/2020 Academic Year (specifically, this second semester)”.

All academic institutions have been shut down over the coronavirus pandemic.

So far, 29 people have died of the virus in Ghana with over 5,000 positive cases confirmed.
