Black Meteors captain, Yaw Yeboah is confident Ghana can beat South Africa in the third place game to secure a ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic football tournament.
According to Celta Vigo midfielder, the players have put the semi-final defeat behind them and they are focused on qualifying for the Olympic Games.
The Black Meteors lost 4-2 on penalties to Ivory Coast in the semi-finals on Tuesday whilst South Africa lost to Egypt by 3-0.
“We are ready and we have to forget about what happened against Ivory Coast because it was just a penalty shootout. It was unfortunate we couldn’t win”, Yaw Yeboah told reporters at the pre-match conference.
“We are now focused on South Africa and we make sure and go on to the pitch and work so hard and determined to win because that is the only game to get to the Olympics. For now, we are mentally and physically ready”, he added.
Ghana will be seeking to end the 15-year jinx and secure a place in next summer’s Olympic football tournament.
Egypt and Cote d’Ivoire have already booked a place after progressing to the final.
The game comes off at Cairo International Stadium.
