Ghana defender Habib Mohammed rescued a point for the Black Meteors in their opening game against Cameroon in the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations been staged in Egypt.
The first half ended with both sides failing to find the back of the net. Cameroon were more effective in attack but could not utilize their chances.
Ghana failed to make any impact upfront with Kwabena Owusu losing his sharpness in today’s game.
The Less Indomitable Lions scored the first goal in the 60th minute through Evina from a free kick.
Ghana captain Yaw Yeboah was taken off the game due to injury and was replaced by Obeng Gyabaa.
Ibrahim Tanko’s changes in the second half injected life into the Ghana team leading to the equalizer.
The Black Meteors got the equalizer in the 86th minute as Habib Mohammed pounced onto a deflected ball and hit it pass the Cameroon goalkeeper.
Evans Mensah was adjudged Man of the Match after the game.
Ghana will play host Egypt in the second game on Tuesday.
