Turkey Earthquake: Ghanaian Ambassador decline to comment on students stranded

Following reports by happyghana.com on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 concerning some Ghanaian students who are stranded in Turkey, Happy Morning Show reached out to the Ghanaian Ambassador to Turkey, Francisca Ashietey-Odunton to engage her on what the Embassy is doing to help the students but she has declined to speak to the news team on the subject matter.

In an exclusive interview with Mohammed Muntaka Abdul Rahman a Ghanaian student at the IBN University in Basaksehir , Instabul, on the Happy Morning Show , he alleged that as at Wednesday Ghanaian students living in areas affected by the earthquake in Turkey have not received any assistance from the Ghanaian Embassy.

More Ghanaian students who spoke with Happyghana.com on Friday morning revealed that they have not yet received any assistance from the Embassy.

On Monday, February 6, a pair of massive earthquakes struck parts of Turkey and Syria, leaving unimaginable death and destruction in their aftermath. Dozens of aftershocks caused even more damage, leading to a death and injury count in the thousands.

For the roughly 148 Turkish and Syrian students enrolled at Boston University, watching the tragedy unfold from afar has been devastating. Internet and cell service have been inconsistent since the quakes hit, making it difficult to contact loved ones in some regions.
